Renville County Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization that focuses on crime prevention and works to assist law enforcement officers in Renville County with solving open cases.
Monetary rewards are paid to informants, or “Tipsters”, if and when the information leads to the arrest and prosecution of those persons responsible for committing a crime.
Renville County Crime Stoppers maintains a toll-free number that “Tipsters” can use to provide information to police, while remaining completely confidential if they choose.
Report a crime by calling 1-800-720-3790.
Renville County Crime Stoppers is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of 10 persons (two from each of the five Commissioner Districts), which are elected by the Board, and one Law Enforcement Liaison. Renville County Crime Stoppers receives its monies solely from donations.
Renville County Crime Stoppers routinely utilizes its media allies to broadcast information to the public. Beginning in 2004, Crime Stoppers issues a “Crime of the Week”, which is information about an unsolved crime, which is aired on local radio stations, printed in newspapers throughout Renville County, and e-mailed to numerous other citizens in and around Renville County. If citizens have information about that crime, or others, they are urged to report their information so that they may be eligible for a reward.
Since its creation in 1996, information received from “Tipsters” has resulted in 51 arrests and the recovery of $161,952.00 in stolen property and Court-ordered restitution.
