Birch Coulee County Park features a shelter, restrooms, water, picnic areas, and trails. Both rustic camping (two sites) and camping with water/electrical hook-ups (five sites) are available. A waste dump station was installed in 2022. It is available at no charge for campers and a small $10.00 fee for non-campers (payment can be placed in the pay box at park entrance).
Birch Coulee was named after its paper birch trees. Birch Coulee Creek runs through the park, and a newly created trail connects the park to the Birch Coulee Battlefield Historic Site, which was place to one of the deadliest battles of the US-Dakota War, over 150 years ago.
